In just over four weeks, I will be Cadiz, Spain. I have been looking forward to this trip since I enrolled in the winter and I am counting down the days until Abbey Road begins! Not only am I excited to work on and improve my Spanish, I cannot wait to spend time in Spain, a country that I have not traveled to before, and to get to know new people: my home stay family, the other Abbey Road participants, and the Spanish people. I hope to gain a good understanding of what my home stay family's daily life in Cadiz is like. I am sure that Cadiz will be a little different from my home here in California, and I am excited to immerse myself in a whole new world and try things that I would not be able to experience in the United States. I want to get toknow Spain and see how it is similar to and different from my home country. I know that there are times when I will feel uncomfortable, but I welcome those times as opportunities to learn more about Spain and my ability to adapt to unfamiliar situations. I have traveled in foreign countries before, but not without my family, so I am really looking forward to going on my own independent journey and discovering the country for myself. I know that I will need my Spanish to get around and an open mind. Additionally, I anticipate enjoying getting to know the other program participants; we all come from different places around the globe, but will discover Cadiz together. Cadiz will provide me with abundant opportunities to practice my Spanish, get to know new people and discover a new country. And for these reasons, I cannotwait for my upcoming trip. Vámonos a España!
